I'm not as smart as my phone

Not too long ago, I hopped on the smart phone bandwagon. I have since realized that it's a dangerous device, but that's neither here nor there. I'm looking for some advice. I feel like I take more photos now, but I don't feel like they're great quality. I keep hearing about these photo apps and I'm just wondering what the point of those are. Are they like Instagram and add filters, but without the social aspect? Or are there apps that have more editing power? Do any of the apps improve the quality of pictures or help you have more control over exposure or shutter speed? Any recommendations?

Also...is Snapchat a real thing that people in the real world do? Do you Snapchat? What on earth is the point?

Any recommendations of good/useful/entertaining apps (for me or the toddlers)?

I do not know anyone who uses snapchat. I have only heard of it being used by people between the ages of 12-14. So I don't think you need to worry about that one.

I am also trying to figure out the photo editing apps. I am not the most technologically advanced person, but I have figured out a couple things: so far I have found 0 free worthwhile editing apps, but I would be interested in any recommendations; it seems that a lot of the editing apps are used for social media and just allow you to write text, add filters and make the photo cute (example: some of my friends use the rhonna designs app and it's really cute, but costs $1.99); and lastly I really want to try the vsco cam app, which I thought was not free, but just found out it is free. So there you go.

And I did have Snap Chat, but it was annoying because all the videos and images can only be seen for a few seconds and then you cannot access them again. Unless you take a screen shot. Frankly, I don't get it. Except for people who are sexting, which I am not, so it seems pointless to me. And kind of wrong. I'm sure someone somewhere will think I am a terrible person for my strong opinion.

Hope you are doing well!

update: the vsco cam app is free, but it looks like you have to pay for EVERYTHING inside. ugh

I LOVE LOVE LOVE VSCO app... I haven't bought any of the "actions" (but I have some on Brad's phone because I bought the app for like two bucks back in the day so they gave them to me for free... on his device, which PS is the best $2 I've ever spent), but I mostly use it to change my exposure, temperature, contrast, and sharpening. I like my photos to be kind of overexposed and cool so they look clean and happy. I just take photos like normal with my phone then upload them to VSCO later. And it's awesome. Like, I wish I could VSCO my real pictures. Which I can, but it's not the same as the app.

Snapchat - lame. I don't use it so I don't know, but I'm with Ashley on this one. I will send pics and videos on instagram from time to time just because it's easier than using the texting feature since they take FOREVER to download on my phone because I have way to many pictures... Snapchat is like... picture texting. All day long. And it self destructs.

Get VSCO. You won't regret it (and it's free... so win-win).

As for normal apps - I'm addicted to Instagram. Which is probably not healthy. And I LOVE Feedly for managing my blogs that I read. It's the best reader - like the reader of my dreams.

Kid apps - my mom has an amazing one but it was like five bucks which is way too much for me to spend on an app. I've been using Baby Bus which is free... and you can download whichever games you like separately and delete the ones that are dumb. Although the best is a video player - my boy likes to scroll through the videos on my phone (usually of himself) and watch them all day long.

I don't Snapchat - pretty sure it's mostly for sexting and no, thank you. I'm not on Instagram or Twitter either. And I don't use photo filters ... too lazy!
The kid apps I have on my phone are Toddler Lock (highly recommend) and other free toddler ones, Emma's loving this pet grooming game lately. The theme song gets really stuck in my head.
